Struggling to find clients

This past week I've made good progress on personal goals. Instead of making a full video, right now I'm just focusing on making music in different genres to best showcase my abilities. I haven't fully decided how I want to present this, I may have a single audio file, or have short clips labeled under each genre, as a good example. Beyond that, I've had a hard time finding any clients. I think once I get my website finished I'll be able to spread it around on Facebook, but as of right now I'm not sure what to do. Someone recommended that I reach out to E-Media students, since they're often needing music for their video projects, so that will likely be my next step.

So far, my focus has primarily been on creating my website so I could be seen as a professional composer and producer. Now that the website is complete, I'm going to begin on the actual business part of my project. For me, this is the most challenging part, since finding work in the music industry is something that every artist struggles with, and will take quite a lot of effort and dedication on my part. As I state in a previous blog post I have a potential customer lined up, someone who wants me to write an alternate theme for their podcast. Hopefully this will be the first of many customers.

I'm happy to say that my website is now mostly complete, and presentable. Two things I would like to add are examples of my music, and another testimonial. I'm still waiting for one of my clients to respond so I can add him to my page. I've been working on a video showcasing my music, but the project is much more difficult than I expected. Regardless, I cleaned it up a lot this week, and now will be able to start sharing it with people, hopefully generating some business. I contacted a film maker via email about a flier I saw hanging up in CCM, looking for cast and crew for a project he's working on. I doubt I will be able to charge for this project, as it is all students, but regardless it will be a good way to gain more experience and get my name out there.

After being continually frustrated by Wix, I've moved my site over to Duda. This is a rather large set back for me, since I have to once again start from scratch. However, I have high hopes, and I already enjoy this website much more. As of right now I have very little on the page, just some introductory information, but I have plans for how to make my site more exciting and relevant. My next step will likely be to make a video for myself. This would feature still images, text, and original music. The point of the video would be to quickly showcase the different genres of music that I can write in, so hopefully a viewer would realize that I could make music for whatever need they wished. I may even include some video footage of me working at my home studio, but that might just appear to make me look unprofessional. Either way, this video will be my focus of work for the next week.
